HKS eGroup

If you want to talk about kites, HKS stuff or make an event announcement, you simply email *one* email address, and all the members of the group will be emailed automatically. Although you can participate with only email, the website for our group has terrific potential.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

Members should send an email with their full name, to: hoosier-kite-society-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

To take advantage of the website functions, you'll need to register with Yahoo egroups.com.

This will give you full access to the 'Articles' and 'Pics' sections.

E-Group managers are Angie Chau, Dick Claycomb, and Mark Kunoff

Angie's e-mail: smilehiindy@yahoo.com

Dick's e-mail: daclaycomb@hotmail.com

Mark's e-mail: mkunoff@bluemarble.net

Friends, I have noticed lately that we've been exchanging many ideas about kites, as well as announcements about events in the coming season. I knew that there could be a more efficient way of exchanging our ideas via email so that everyone gets to participate without having to maintain lengthy address lists. I already knew about some of the exciting things people were doing with so called "virtual communities", so I decided to look into it further. Most of the search engine companies offer free services to any sort of club and many free virtual communities exist on the www. After some careful research I decided on egroups.com. The service is very useful to a club like ours, and above all, free!

Update! [March 8, 2001] Yahoo.com has recently acquired ownership of e-groups. The transition should be relatively painless, but if you have any difficulties, let me know. If your experience is like mine, then your ability to send and receive messages from the e-group has gone uninterrupted and if all you are interested in is exchanging messages via e-mail, then you may not have to do anything. Eventually, you may want to access the www functions of the e-group and you may be asked to re-register. It appears Yahoo will attempt to boost the features of the e-group and make it more useful, so in my opinion, it is worth the hassle of re-registering.
