PIGS Aloft lists upcoming activities, including holiday flies

Our friends at Cincinnatti-area PIGS Aloft sent along the following information via email today:

Hi All,

This year is winding down, take a break from the Holiday Rush and join us out on the flying field on Sunday, December 14 in front of the Voice of America Museum from noon - 5 and help us fill the sky with kites!

Please join us on Thursday, January 1st to Welcome in the New Year! We'll fly kites in front of the VOA Museum from noon - 5. Start Your year off out in the fresh air playing with the wind!

Our calendar for 2015 is starting to fill up! Here are a few dates to mark on your calendar for the year so that you don't miss out on any of the fun!!!

Sunday, January 11, is our regular second Sunday of the month Kite Fly in front of the VOA Museum. We'll fly kites from noon - 5. All of our kite flying dates are weather-permitting.

Sunday, February 8, we will fly kites in front of the VOA Museum from noon - 5.

U-MAKE (the Upper Midwest Area Kitemaking Event) www.u-make.org at the Lorado Taft Field Campus in Oregon, Illinois on Feb.27 - March 1. Registration is now open for all kinds of wonderful kitemaking classes!!! This is a weekend of great food, camaraderie and fun, and you leave with several new kites that you made! If you would like to make kites this is the place to be! Register now!!!

On the subject of kite making, we'd like to welcome "Fly Market Kitemaking Supply" at http://www.flymarketkites.com. Phil Broder has opened a much-needed space to order kite supplies, fabric, parts and info!!! phone # 717-638-7777.

Sunday, March 8 we will fly kites in front of the VOA Museum from noon - 5.

April is National Kite Month. Check out the AKA ( American Kitefliers Association) www.aka.kite.org for festivals, kite-making plans and info.

Saturday, April 11 Kites 'n MPX (Metro Parks Kite Fly in the Voice of America Park) from 12:00-5:00. We will be flying on the fields used for past Airwaves and have some kitemaking for the kids.

Sunday, April 12 we will be flying in front of the VOA Museum from noon -5:00. Plan to spend the weekend with us!

Sunday, April 19 we will join the Oxford Kinetic Festival from 12:00-5:00 at Millet Hall in Oxford, Ohio. "Flight of the Flier" is the theme this year. www.oxfordkineticsfestival.org. This Festival is a lot of fun!!!

We'll see You out on the flying fields! PIGS Aloft Kite Club: People Interested in Getting Stuff Aloft. We are a group of kite enthusiasts out playing with the wind, You are always welcome to join us! We fly kites on the second Sunday of the month in front of the VOA Museum. We are available for kite festivals, kite making and educational programs.

Condolences to our friends in Wisconsin

It was announced on Facebook this morning that Mike Wagner, President of the Wisconsin Kiters Club, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack October 8.

The Hoosier Kitefliers Society expresses its condolences to our friends in Wisconsin and all who grieve Mike's passing.
